Hypothermia Run (night snow run)

If anyone else wants to join in, let's meet at In'n'Out burger in Auburn, at the Hwy 49 offramp from I-80. Meet there about 6:30-7:00, get a burger, then fuel up and head to the snow.

I'm almost not ready to go on this run. I won't let you know if my status changes.

Snowing at my house when I left this morning.......gonna be good times. My plan is to keep warm in my garage by welding all day.

I heard the snow level may get down to 2000 feet!
I wish I could be there!

Its snowing here in Nebraksa at 1200 feet!

Wish i could make it - there is always another run though...

"I made it back, but I'm never going to Malakoff Diggins again." - Phil

Sounds like there is a story somehwere in that statement...or does a picture tell a thousand words and we should wait until tomorrow?

Shomsky:
- overheating until we hooked up his electric fan
- bad O2 sensor and busted cat
- flat tire on the way home after fixing the Jeep the next day, no spare

me:
- feet got a little cold in the snow
- slid my car in the snow/slush on the way home after fixing his Jeep, now I'm back to DDing the Jeep

in other words
me-no major breaking just stupid crap that broke when i didnt have anything to replace it with

Phil- lost another one to mallakoff

oh yeah i almost forgot i got up at 8:00 am on sat got ready went wheeling till about 5:00am on sunday. jeep broke down, left it in mallakoff, went to davis, slept for about a grand total of 2 hours, bought o2 sensor went back to mallokoff, sawed off cat and replaced o2 sensor, started snowing, slid out got a flat, no spare, got a spare, drove home, got home after 12:00pm this mornign had to get up at 7 so i could work 8 hours.

final results- jeep sounds like NASACR in the frontyard, went through about 4 tanks of gas, have a 33 procomp m/t on my rack with about 300 miles on it with a hole in the side wall that you cant fit your pinky finger into.

1. How did you manage to overheat in the snow ?? Fan clutch failure ?
2. Why is necessary to replace O2 sensor in the field ? Its output is checked only in idle or coast modes to boost fuel economy.

How bad was it ? What is DDing?

I don't know if there was an underlying problem, but his electric fan wasn't coming on. Wiring the electric fan directly to the battery kept it cool.

His catalytic converter was plugged, and we think the bad cat killed the O2 sensor. It was giving an error code. He replaced the sensor and dealt with the cat.

DDing is daily driving. The Jeep is my only vehicle again. On the car, the steering broke, the front end was kinda torn up, the passenger front fender was severly dented, a fluid reservoir was torn off, and I laid the car over onto the driver's side.
