I found one on c-list for $150, and while I used the search button and found that the general feeling over the performance chips were not very great (stock I'm told they already have a pretty aggressive timing curve).

Well, in a 'hey it came up' kind of way, this has my interest now, and being different from the normal max hp tuners I figured I'd ask about it.

I'm pretty sure the gains posted are 'under ideal conditions' and may be the stats of the most responsive vehicle (likely some other manufacturer). Seller says it got 1-1.5mpg better on the dodge ram they had it on. Sure a 360v8 is not a 242ci inline six, so results may vary, as does driving conditions, vehicle state of tune, etc. I'm trying to get the best fuel economy out of the lil Jeep as possible while being a decent 'road and trail' rig.

Getting to the point, and fast, has anyone tried this and if so, what have your experiences been?

Just a fyi ,my xj has a 3" lift, 31" bfg AT/kos, modified stock airbox and 2.5" exhaust.

I had the Jet 2 chip in my 94XJ and it woke my Jeep right up. I rolled it bad. I bought my 96 and swapped all the mods over save for the Jet. I decided to try the Hypertech HPP3 50012 since I now had obd2. The thing has a stock, an 87 octane mild tune, and a 93 octane performance tune. I filled up with 93 octane, tuned to 93, raised governor to 128mph, raised redline +300rpm. Started up fine, but with any load and TPS >25%, it'd ping, CEL. Tried the 87 tune: still pinging, even with a tankful of 93. So this is how it got it's "Hyperping" nickname. I tried redline in neutral(I know, I know) and it was still 5300(couldn't even try to hit 128 in that state). Anyhow sold it to someone else and it worked good for them. The only good thing it did for me was clear the misfire code it created. Anyhow the HPP3s are no longer sold and now there's the MAX Energy. Someone here has got to have experience with it.
