I am thinking about doing a HP D60 for the rear. My question is for those who have actually done it. Since it will be running on the coast side, on a DD, how much more gear whine can I expect?
I can't give you my experience, but the guy that I bought mine from said he didn't notice any added sound from it.
Granted it was on a weekend DD'd YJ, with LTB's in 38's then 40's, but there was never any more sound over the tires, topless, radio, that stood out over the 5 years he ran it.
would there be any difference in sound compared to a LP front axle?
I'm really interested in getting the drive shaft up and out of the way a bit more. I have had more driveshaft issues than axle and gear issues over the years.
You may have already seen, but I can grab a few pics of what a HPD60 looks like under the back of a Cherokee.
Mine is stretched 5" in the back, but the shaft is noticably higher than stock, or most any other LP axle.
I'll eventually have links in the rear, but I figure I'd rather have leafs/links as the lowest point, instead of the shaft.
