One of my dad's friends is getting rid of his 87 nissan maxima. Its a V6, stick, with 211,000 miles, has detailed maintinence records, and he is the original owner. It needs stuff that most old cars need, brakes, a few new hoses, etc. I could pick it up for about $500. I'm going to be keeping my jeep, but I'm gonna become a jackstand wheeler for a while.

Anyone had any experience with nissans?

Nuthin' wrong with a $500 beater, no matter what the make is. Drive it 'till the wheels fall off and build that XJ!

buy it, I had a friend with over 300K on one, and he beat it and didn't take care of it. Hell, we used a soldering iron to melt the plastic on the rad backtogether after he rearended someone. Drove on it for months.

My Dad has a 98 with no real problems, but we had an an '04 that was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. We sold it with 15k miles, the repair receipts could fill a file cabinet.
