How to replace seal on ...

the NP231 extension housing. I've dropped the drive shaft. I've unbolted the extension housing and have it on the bench. The rear seal is obviously pressed in there. I've managed to beat it up with a bit. I can probably manage to get it out using the strong arm approach, but the real problem will be getting the new one in. Any hints on the best way to accomplish this?

I did mine on the Jeep with a big socket.

Just following up. Once I dremeled and wrenched out the old seal, I took the extension housing and new seal to a local garage. $1 later I had the new seal pressed into the fitting instead of beating it into submission with a block of wood and the good ole BFH.
