Im a newb when it comes to ebay. Ive used craigslist alot and like it, but ive got some old motorcycle parts laying around and ebay is the place i can unload them for sure. anybody have any tips about using ebay? What shipping service do you have the best luck with? USPS, UPS, other?

It's been a while since I used eBay for anything at all, let alone selling parts. However, when I did, I used the postal service for my shipping. They have a variety of box sizes available and the rates are reasonable.

Make sure the description indicates that the bid winner will pay shipping. I also had folks pre-pay though Pay-Pal for the item, then ship. Do not entertain any offers to go around the system, they are dishonest people trying to short sheet you. Photos and a good description of the item help enormously, but if you are trying to sell an item that no-one is interested in, like the pass side C-Clip from a D30, then eBay will just end up with their fee, which went up as I understand, and you will be left out.

I am a huge eBayer, I buy and sell things all the time.

For buying my advice is be smart, you aren't going to get a 100" tv for $30. Read about the seller before you bid and if it's a big item see if you can call the seller. Just use common sense.

For selling I use UPS never lost any item I have mailed off. Be honest and describe the item well. Tkae your time going through the listing process there are a ton of options.

Use as many words as possible in the title, that helps when people are searching for your item.

Sounds like pretty logical stuff so far. I have sold a few things in the past that required shipping to other states, and I always get the money first. It just makes sense. I would probably go with "buyer pays shipping" too. So, I wonder if ebay accepts a debit card to setup paypal, because I dont have any credit cards. Also, do you guys just buy boxes from your shipping source? (Ex: USPS.)

thats what i like to hear. Can you pay the ebay fees with your debit card too?

Yes you can pay your fees with debit cards or with your paypal account.

With some of the cheaper things the sellers charge more for shipping. This because ebay does not take a fee from the shipping cost. When we first started sell decals on ebay we charged $4.00 and free shipping. We soon found out that between ebay fees, paypal fees, shipping and material cost we were loosing money. So now it's $1.99 for a decal and $3.00 shipping.

When you figure the shipping cost take into account the cost of box, packing supplys and your time.

One more thing, International shipping can be a pain.
