How stiff does your XJ ride?

I guess all I need to say is that I'm running RS5000's.

I actually like the firm, "controlled" ride though... It will soon get worse--I'm upgrading to HD rear leafs from stock.

I agree with heyhar, I got new tires on the XJ (130,000) stock suspension and the ride was drastically different. That was going from BF radials to Destination A/Ts.

Different, in this case, means harsher?

I have Carquest CC782 front coils and Carquest HD leafs with Gabriel ultra truck shocks front and back and unloaded it is a little stiff but I drive A LOT of really really rough roads that kill suspension like it's a hobby so I went for tough components I thought would last for a while.

I LOVE the ride of my XJ, it's way softer than my dad's JK, my mom's Durango, and my GF's XJ. I even have Pro Crap ES3000s!

My setup is a saggy-ass RE 4.5 short arm with LCA drop brackets that sit totally level to the ground. For shocks I have Pro Comp ES3000s, and I try to keep everything greased up. Also, my shackle angle is almost a perfect 45 degrees.

I couldn't be happier with my ride, but I'm betting it will suffer a bit when I raise a couple inches for bigger tires.

I'd also like to know if "drastically different" means harsher in this case. I'm looking at going with a new set of Destination A/Ts for my mostly street driven XJ.

In regards to the rest of this thread, a few years ago I replaced the stock shocks with Monroe Sensa-tracs. They were the most recommended shocks by far for your average, mostly street driven, XJ. My handling improved, but the bumps.... oh gawd the bumps. Suddenly things I could plow across before felt like hitting brick walls. It just seems to be the front end. The rear seems fine.

I would assume he meant the BFGs were harsher. I have the BFG A/T and while a great tire, their "LT" construction makes them a bit stiffer. Better for offroad, but the ride will suffer a bit. The Firestone Destination A/T is a bit more road friendly A/T tire and has a better ride. I love the BFGs so far, but my second choice would be the Destinations. Awesome tires for the price. :cheers:

have you also looked at improving the shackle angle? i did to mine, and it seems to ride better.
