How much have you spent on light upgrades?

Fires scare me more than anything else

that and they don't understand the need to use heat sinks of significant size for LEDs and chemicals to seal the boards that don't cause cancer when the LEDS burn it off (because they don't use big enough heat sinks.

My buddy sells those china LED's they work great and half the price as the big companies..

I would recommend using the link that Mike1331 posted and ordering some lights.

Is this just another lame attempt to circumvent the sponsorship requirement?:nono:

you see this thread for led's/hid's on the cheap?
http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/truck-talk/157571.htm
Make sure you actually read the posts in that thread. The only good thing anyone has to say about them is that they're cheap. The one guy ordered a 42" light bar to use as comparison for people so he can show them how his 10" American made lights are less expensive, a quarter the size and throw more light further. So....yeah, if you want to be cool and run LEDs, go for the Chinese ones. If you want to actually see what hell you're doing, buy the good stuff. You'll be able to go smaller and pay less.

exactly. read the whole thread don't just stop at the part that gets you all excited ;)

if you read to the end you'll see the light output is decent on the china lights to the couple who bought them and plugged them in and that some of the american ones are rebranded china lights. The guy who said a lot of that is a vender.

The guy saying that is a vendor for Baja Designs, and pushes BD product. In doing so, he's slamming rigid, vision x, and the rest of them trying to drum up business. If you look at any real shootouts, you'll see the Rigid and Vision X lights are NOT chinese rebrands...

i didn't say those exact ones were rebrands.

Anyways the testimonials are there, some are bad, some are good...I'm going to order some china lights today from a local dude and hope they get here before the USA 500 desert race in reno this weekend.

The truth on the chinese lights are they work good and have a great heat sink. I had a 10" rigid light before these "chinese" ones and the 10" chinese light lit up the same as the expensive rigid. Im not saying rigids aren't good because they are an awesome light, but for the price of these "chinese" lights and the light output why wouldnt anyone want to get them?

I can post pics of the light output and even a video without trying to sell anything if it is ok with the mods, its just pictures showing the light output of these sanmak lights.

no they don't, and no they don't.

did you meter the light output? until you do, you can't make that claim.

how about supporting products made in america? or not buying shit thats made in an extremely environmentally unfriendly way? or the terrible working conditions of the factories in China? the list goes on.

Great, i guess i'll just quit now. If you haven't tried one there is no point in fighting over it, All i'm saying is the "Chinese" lights have good light output for the money. And please say something other then support american made, half the stuff "made in america" are with parts from china or other places. I bet you have a few china parts yourself. Im all for spending money here and keeping jobs here, but come on.

I have no idea what the deal is with whatever is going on with who pushing who's company and I don't care. But the whole buy American thing is overplayed. And yes, for the money, some ching chong lights look good. And yea, the big names are the best the buy. But, I would like to see measured output comparisons or at least pics taken with a camera that can be set to a manual aperture and shutter speed for comparison.

Spending money here? As in being a paid sponsor?

No not here, as in a sponsor. I wouldn't mind being a sponsor if i was the one selling these lights.
