How free flowing should the XJ exhaust be?

yea, thats a two piece design exhaust manifold, you have one manifold with two pieces. congrats, they cut the normal design in half. 1 manifold services one exhaust bank. I could easily modify an exhaust manifold to make it mount in three pieces, but I would still have one manifold.

Hey, that way I could run three exhausts and possibly triple my gains!

As far as knowing what we are talking about, I have torn apart several 00'+ motors and know exactly what you are talking about. the newer exhaust manifold is a shittier design than the old ones. I also know what a clifford performance manifold looks like, seen a couple, thought about buying one then decided against it, they are a good design, I am still leaning towards the turbo though so no sense wasting the money now.

Ok, there's a lot more to exhaust systems than "exhaust velocity", such as backpressure and scavenging. But I guess in all your infinite knowledge about exhaust systems, you failed to realize that. And don't even start about "fluid dynamics" cause you don't know shit about it, OR engines in general if you think that dual 1.25" pipes equal the area of a single 2.5" pipe. It's called MATH dumbass, there's this little thing called PI... so you're tryin to argue that you know more about "fluid dynamics" than I do, yet you don't even know that diameters and areas of circles are NOT a fixed proportion. HA
Also, in all your infinite wisdom, you failed to realize that a 2.5" single exhaust system would flow TWICE as much volume as a dual 1.25" system :dunce:

Wow that's weird... cause I DO HAVE DUAL EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. WOW you're dumb!

And let me know when you figure out how 4 can go into 6 dumbass :)

lol. If you think engines make power with back pressure, you should start kicking your own ass.

Look at what I bolded above. Then read what I said. You just proved my point... and I'm the dumbass? I wasn't doing a 1:1 comparison...simply making a point (which you confirmed).

And I'm afraid two collectors does not = two (seperate) manifolds. :moon:

I know this is hard for you, but if you'd actually READ, you'd know that I KNOW backpressure is bad for performance. I'm not exactly sure where you thought I was saying otherwise but oh well.

So your point was that 2.5" single exhaust would flow better than 1.25" dual exhaust??? WOW, way to blow the lid off of conventional thinking!!! Are you tellin me that the system with DOUBLE the capacity is gunna flow better than the dual 1.25" pipes!?!? No way!!!

Are you picking up on the sarcasm? To quote Tommy Boy, "I should hope so cause I'm layin it on pretty thick".

And I don't care if the two manifolds have a piece of metal holding them together, it makes NO DIFFERENCE.

I never mentioned flow. A good N/A exhaust has high velocity around peak torque AND flow. They are both equally important.

Get the Dyno #'s already and let's blow this thread up since it hasn't been a productive one.

I consider this a very productive thread. It has been entertaining me for quite some time. What other definition of productive do you need.

I can't believe I just subscribed to this thread.Hasta

ah yes, and there it is, the weekly bump.

Can you remove the "honey comb" insides from the cat?

yep, but if it is a high flow it is completly unnessescary. you will also throw a code because your O2 sensor will not be sending the right signal.

Noob top the forum and found this to be a fascinating thread. I actually read every entry. I would have never thought a thread about the XJ could become so involved an debated.

Don't beat the crap outta me but, where are the dyno numbers??? LMAO

Seriously though, I'd like to se where all of this ended up or did I miss it :)
