Makes burned/melted carpet look good:gee:

Is it literally on fire in that pic?? That's why I stick to Jeepin. At the very least I'll just burn the crap outta myself when I touch the really hot bumper...:D

I watched one of those little econo-boxes that are so popular in Europe pull up close behind an M-1 Abrams once. Melted the grill(as in smoking), peeled the paint off the hood, and melt-discolored the windshield before the tank moved off. Happened in under a minute :D

My guess is a big a** can muffler was touching the plastic body work.

Abrams tanks exhaust can hit up to 1300* Very hot. New tankers have been known to get their eyebrows singed off by walking too close behind one...

We loved those things in Germany. Gods own space heater. :)

Those were the days, waiting for the DATs to start up thier tanks so we could dry ourselves out.
We used to stand on the rear deck and hold our sleeping bags out over the bitch plate for about 3 seconds at a time to dry them out. 'Had to be real careful(and quick) though.

They can also run right through a big rig at 55 mph! A guy I work with saw that happen at ft. Knox!

Yea I've seen a couple of guys burn/melt their bags trying to dry them out.
It was risky but nothing worked better when you were short on time.

Those RX7's come factory equipped with magnesium and stainless steel exhausts for a reason....

That is happens when you put on your blinging PepBoys muffer. :flame:

Loved it when we got the M1's and phased out the M60's. The M1's were great to walk behind (at a safe distance) in the winter in Germany.

I think I still have pics around in a box some where of our company taking an M-1 down to the hull after two of them collided nearly head on at Graf. IIRC, it was the first such incident, hence taking them down to the hull. It even peeled the track skirts open. I was not too far behind them when they crashed on the tank trail. Once it was noticed the skirts were torn, security got hot & heavy VERY quickly. At the time, what they were made of was quite the secret.
