A friend and I ran the Rubicon in October. We spent the night at the camp grounds at Rubicon Springs. Along with everything else, there were a half dozen porta-potties around the camp ground. I've read about the environmental degradation that has occurred in the area from too many people running around with no sanitation. I know that the state has started monitoring pretty much everything in that area. I'm guessing that they can't just empty those porta-potties out into the creek.

...,which means that somewhere, someone has an off-road service truck that can either make it up big sluice, or up Cadillac hill with a load on. Has anybody ever seen this monster?

Around here the forest service many times uses helicopters.

Such things do exist. During deployment to Iraq occasionally we had to escort shit trucks to our Iraqi police stations. within a couple months they became a target and someone blew up the truck (along with the operators really messy as you could imagine.) Anyway after that we stuck the guys in the back of our ASV and hauled a high clearance crap trailer behind the ASV. I don't have any pics of the trailer but we went offroad alot and it did pretty good.

I'm glad to hear they put porta crappers in. I had to fight off people with a stick when I brought my toilet seat/5gallon bucket thing.

Yeah, that was the first thought I had, but the Rubicon Springs camp ground is privately owned. I doubt they make enough money to sling-load sewage under an aircraft that costs $1000.00/hr every time you start the engine(that's for a baby helicopter). The government doesn't have to worry about the economics.

Yeah, I've seen some pretty interesting vehicles, usually one-off, to do specialized tasks. I'd like to get a look at whatever it is.

They don't haul them out. On days when no ones around they haul them over to the stream and dump 'em!
The last time I was there all they had were some scranky old outhouses.
Maybe there's some kind of large capacity septic system hidden behind the scenes where they dump the porta-johns.
