Holy New England Jeep cancer!

I'll post the pics from mine when I cut it up....there is literally almost NO floor left

I have only seen one much worse then that. You could grab the rear quarter/tail light and pull the whole side of the jeep in and out. It was detached from the frame rail from the rear corner to the door.

Travis's old DD? :roflmao:

I've seen a couple that have separated at the rear when the seams rotted out, all the rest is good except for that..... mine is just quietly rusting away, a little chunk at a time... :-(

i pulled out the front seat today to get a better look at what's in store, and 3 of the bolts broke, with the fourth rounding out so bad i had to cut it out. the process of pulling it out and the poking and prodding that happens knocked loose a lot more rust, so the holes are showing themselves even more now.

i've started looking for a cheap (sub $1000 ideally) cherokee to swap over parts to, ideally something with junk axles / tcase but good solid body but its being very difficult. people think XJs are made of god damn gold around here, like the ~$1000 ones have no body, blown headgaskets, etc. It looks like trying to fix the rust would just be a project that i don't really have time for before winter hits hard and it would just prolong the agony just a little longer..

aah i want to wheel though :(

check a larger area on craigslist, i just picked up a mint condition 00 (with blown motor) for cheap

this lady has someone coming to look at it tonight, but if he does not buy it i'll go check this bad boy out tomorrow with some cash, looks like it would be a solid foundation. i could maybe even keep the transmission and clutch parts to 5speed swap it? pull the entire drivetrain from mine (SYE too), swap into that jeep. BAM

yeah i was,

i was looking for jeeps down there too, since i had a decent amount of downtime, a few of the days we were done by like noon at the latest. nothing really good was out there though, and i didn't want to stray too far either

I was gonna say it didn't look anywhere near as bad as mine till the second pic

 well at least if you break down, you can fred flintstones the sucker home instead of calling for a tow truck.

so i just went and saw this jeep, and i'll be picking it up (gotta find a trailer or use AAA) next week. thing is solid and had like ZERO rust as was only ever driven by two women. it's been sitting the past year so it needs a good bath but it has a rust free, good body. tinted windows, power windows / locks, etc etc. all i'll have to do is swap the engine! :gee:

$750!

haha did someone just leave that there?

It's official... my fleet has grown one more! The AAA driver just dropped it off. Apparently you're not supposed to AAA something if it has an expired registration (oops!). Good thing the driver didn't notice the lack of license plates on the new Jeep!

I'll snag some pics in the morning when it is not dark and rainy.

Time to slap something together for one last hurrah on the 96, find myself a place to work during the winter, and the project will begin!:patriot: Oh, and I actually WILL be wheeling by NACfest, unlike some of your guys super big builds! Although.... I am looking in to 3-linking the front, and possibly swapping the 5 speed from my current jeep into it while it's all apart

yeah I got reamed out by a AAA guy after towing my old cj7 with expired cali plates on it 1/2 mile with the rear axle locked up =)

I made sure to tip the driver a few bucks, especially how it was a 70+ mile tow.
