Up here eh?
Is there an easy way to tell the difference between a renix and HO engine? Because I just picked up a '91 parts jeep and It says it has the HO but Its been through a few owners and doesnt run at all right now, so I dont know if its the origional engine or not.

Yeah I know, but like I said, Its been through a few owners and Im not sure if its the origional engine. I cant tell any differences from my Renix. Is there any easy ways to tell?

3 bolts holding down the throttle body is a RENIX, 4 is HO.

Throttle bodies also look quite a bit different as you would expect, but I don't have a picture of the RENIX, I could take a pic of the HO if you want.

Ahhhh ok. Its a HO then.
Thanks.

Also, the casting number on your cylinder head should be 7120 - RENIX would be 2686. Search for a recent post, but I seem to recall the casting number being on the driver's side top of the cylinder head, outside the valve cover, somewhere near the #3 cylinder.

5-90

I think the easiest way to tell is the throttle body like someone mentioned. Its a dead give a way, if the motor is still complete. Three bolts in a triangle vs. 4 in a square. I always look first at the TB when I am at the junkyard. For some things it doesn't matter what year Jeep the part comes from.
