Hi everyone!

Vanimal, I totally would but I'm going to be in Europe from Tuesday 'till the 12th. Thanks for the welcome and compliment Cali!

I'll be the only one trashing my Jeep hahaha!

Welcome
How is Big Bear? I heard it's pretty fun but you have to watch out for hikers?
Yes.... especially on the big bear side... People like to be super protective of their kids... So if you pass a group of mtn bikers without completely slowing down to a near stop... expect to hear crying. They do act like they own the place.

If you like mashing fast, head over to fawnskin... less hikers/mtn bikers, at least from my experience.

I have to admit that if I was going out to a trail where there are lots of cyclists/hikers sharing the area with trucks, I would be a little nervous of accidentally hitting someone or getting into a pissing contest with people that think that they have more of a right to use our land than us Jeepers do but hey, if the wheeling is good enough I'm willing to check it out. Big Bear is a really pretty place too, and I would like some experience on stuff that isn't Occotillo mudhills or big Glamis style dunes.

I like to do a little dualsporting too, and my friends have told me that Big Bear is a great place to do it, but they have mentioned the same thing that you did, that there are lots of pedestrians out there to watch out for. That definitely puts a damper on all of that mach-ten kind of mashing we like to do on our cycles. If I ever end up heading out that direction with my XR650, I'll check out Fawnskin first, because I'd prefer to avoid crying bicyclists hahaha!!

People need to realize that it's everyone's land, that we all pay our taxes and have equal rights to the places we like to go out to play. I believe in respecting other people and being safe, but eleteist attitudes don't go far with me...

if i had a dollar for every idiot in a truck or a dirtbiker who came flying around a blind corner and nearly hit someone.....
It may be a multi use trail but equal rights does not constitute recklessness (on either part, i've seen plenty of reckless mountain bikers too)

Yeah vanimal I know what you're saying. That's why mixed use trails kind of spook me a little bit, and I tend to avoid any off road areas that may involve pedestrians. I make an exception with the imperial sand dunes though, I have no issues with roosting the snot out of some sierra club hikers hahaha!

Welcome dude! We got a lot of desert dwellers on here. I plan to be at Glamis the weekend before halloween.

Thanks for the welcome Jeeperjohn!

Nice! The weather is getting ready to cool down a bit too.

Some of my crazier friends went out for 5 days the week of labor day, specifically for night rides (duh). They said it was freaking epic, but then again, they all have enclosed trailers with A/C.

That's got me thinking... I need to get out to the sand this season. I love Occotillo but it's been too long since I've hit up the G. Maybe around Thanksgiving :D
