i think i'm retarded and i just want ya'll to confirm it for me. i've got a 4.5 inch lift and i'm on 31's right now. i'm putting 33's on this weekend and was thinking i would need some sort of SYE kit. as long as i'm not putting any more lift on it i should be ok to run 33's...right? aside from losing MPG's and putting a bit more strain on the engine... that'll be my next project.

Yeah, tire size isn't gonna require an SYE, just the amount of lift and the driveline angle increase it causes. If you aren't adding any lift, then you're fine.

ok...33's on. rubs like a son of a bitch on my left LCA. need a new track bar to center it. i think i'm gonna trim the fenders this weekend tho. i was thinking i would bring 'em up like 2-2.5 inches. any ideas/pointers?

There's TONS of threads about fender trimming....... search brutha search!

No it doesn't, the 242 has part time as well. Look down at your shift bezel. If you have 4 Hi, N, and 4 Low, then you have the 231. If you have Full Time, 4 Hi, N, and 4 Low, then you have the 242. Depending on the year too, it'll say on the back of the visor on the drivers side.

I know Fred is assuming here that you mean when you pull the lever back to the first position, and it says part time. Then yes you'd have the 231. Because full time is the first position on the 242. But I thought I'd clarify.

So if there is a 242 transfer case in the jeep, and it is shifted into Fulltime, the same parttime light in the dash lights up that lights up when a 231 is shifted into part time 4wd?? That makes no sense.

The wife's WJ with the 242 has no lights in the dash.

Now that's some wild shit right there Fred! Not like the lights always work. LOL

Our '90 with the 242 case has a yellow light that says "Part Time" when the shifter is in part time, a green light that says "Full Time" when the case is in full time. Sometimes, when the shifting into full time, or into two wheel drive, the yellow light stays on.
