A buddy gave me a new Bazooka BA1300. It's a one channel rated at 300w RMS @ 4 ohm. I don't listen to rap so I could care less about the long drawn out booming bass. I listen to country and metal so a tighter bass would be best for me. Would prefer an 8" due to the box size but will consider a 10".
I'm not sure how much money you plan on spending but I've been very impressed with the Image Dynamics IDQ12V2. If you could find a 10" in the older model you could get a pretty good deal; this is the closest thing I could find that they offer in the new model http://www.woofersetc.com/p4992/ID10D2-V3--Image-Dynamics-10"-Dual-2-Ohm-V3-Subwoofer.htm. I haven't heard it but i can't imagine it wouldn't sound good, I would put it in a fairly small sealed box to get the tight punchy bass without all of the booming.
Sub size doesn't really matter, you could get what you want with a 12". Just use a small sealed box, and you should get tighter bass. The cutoff from the box will be higher in the frequency range, which is ok since your music choice wont have as many low end frequencies.

x2! I used it have an Image Dynamics 15" sub in my XJ and it pounded and had awesome response with country music too! I was also told by a car audio professional that Image Dynamics Subwoofers work great no matter how much power you have going through them. I really want to get another 15" for my XJ but the two 10" kickers I got in a bandpass box and amp included for $100 is working just fine for me now.
I recommend the Kicker CVT8. Mounts in a box 4" deep and it's perfectly happy with 0.5 cubic feet. Should work well with the amp, seeing as how it's 240w @ 4-ohm, 300W @ 2-ohm. I've been feeding 1500w through my 10's for months, sounds great and absolutely no issues. The extra 40w isn't going to hurt anything. Grab the 2-ohm DVC CVT8, wire it in series to pull the resistance up to 4-ohms, and call it good.
Don't forget that a LOT of the sound and such has to do with the box. You can make a Wally-special sub pound if the box is designed to the sub's specs.
I built a sealed box with a 12" across from the spare tire in that little cubby hole. Its just a cheap sony but it handles 350 rms all day long. I'll post a pic or 2 of it if you like. one could easy make it a bit smaller if u would rather a 10"
