help me choose some new leaf springs

hi guys and maybe girls. looking at replacing my rear leafs and going lower at the same time. i currently have some old rustys 6.5 inch leafs with a 1.5 inch longer shackle. i never liked the leafs as they seemed to long and the ride sucks. i am running 35s with bushwacker cutouts and i want to go lower for more stability etc. one option i was looking at was the rubicon express 3.5inch and use them with my longer shackle for 4.5 inchs of lift. anyone have any other suggestions?

Your asking in the jeepspeed forum so i most of us are going to tell you get the G9 pack from Deaver. Its what im running and there the best! they are a 4.5 inch pack so this might be perfict for you...

I only have experience with Deaver's race pack's but they are leaps and bounds better that a lift kit spring...
HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!! and worth the money.

Custom leaf springs aren't cheap. When you look at a set, you're going to think they're Mack truck springs. Packs can have 8 or 9 leaves instead of the 4 or 5 you're used to looking at. The leaves are thinner, and sometimes each leaf is a different thickness. Overall rate may be about the same, but much more progressive. Definitely worth the money if you can afford it.

I used a longer rear spring on my previous XJ, and am considering doing it on the new XJ build. Or, are the Deaver springs so good that there's no need to mess with it?

Those look nice!!! I too ran the 1463's and I liked them for what I did. I am sure I would have liked Deavers better but never had the chance......the 1463's worked.

I run the 10 leaf National Spring pack. Having gone through numerous lower quality springs, spending the bucks to do it right the first time will save money and hassles in the end.

We run the Deaver because we are stuck with that length. They are great springs, but if the rules were more open I think you'd see just about everyone go with a longer spring and run them under the housing. If you aren't concerned with the rules, then go longer.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Poly Performance spring hanger allows for a longer spring (i.e. the spring eye is kept in the stock location). I know of at least 1 team using these and I think they're an excellent upgrade over stock.

im sure it can be slid forward to allow for a longer spring with minimal modification. but yes, it is intended, as their site states, for beefing up/replacing the stock hanger

I've considered exactly this, and thought about going with a spring under. It's damn tempting.

I personally don't know anyone who has run both to compare them, but I've wheeled with some great rigs that have had one or the other. I don't think you could go wrong, either way.
Since you're close, why not go to National and ask questions?

i probably will ask some questions once i look into getting new leafs. but mine are working for me for now and $700 for new ones arent in the budget anytime soon

my custom deaver packs have been awesome. Jeff @ deaver has been very helpful and knows what he's doing. Rear shackle angles are important (ie, you dont want a vertical angle). You'll save more money spending more on Deavers than replacing RE, Rustys, etc every 3 years. The go-fast is an obvious choice (deavers or nationals). I have no experience with nationals but they do make great springs as well.

in relation to off the shelf js leafs, what kinda coin we talkin, for deaver to do a custom setup?
