Hey guys whoever owned my jeep before me had put on, one of those fram quick change oil things. Where its basically this cap screwed into the drain plug. So when you take off the drain plug it doesnt come pouring out. But you have to screw in this tube with a fitting on the end to drain out the oil. Now Im worried that im not really draining out everything. I tried to get it off but its really on there. I dont wanna damge the drain hole by trying to yank this thing out. My question does anyone use this "system" if not how can I get it off with out destroying the drain/oil pan. Thanks Guys

*This is the thing I am talking about its called Fram Sure Drain. http://www.rustysoffroad.com/article_framsuredrain.html

I don't know if you need to remove it. But if you want to can you get at any of the threads? It looks like it should turn out, like the drain bolt.

ive used those before on some cars where the drain plug was a pita. if your particularly worried about draining every last drop then id swap it out for a standard plug but even then your gona have some residual oil in the pan. OR just buy a extra quart of motor oil to pour in the motor to help push the residual out . I personally like the ease of the drain hose

My XJ had one of those on it from the PO, mainly because the engine skid made it a PITA to change the oil. I like it, still use it. They're not quite as nice as the Fumoto valves, but still work well. You're never going to get every last drop of old oil out anyway, like Gerr said, get an extra quart and pour it through to flush some more of the old oil out.

Why would you say that? Their cheaper filters may be crap but they are part of the Honeywell automotive group that includes Prestone and Autolite.

Where can i get one of those?!?!

They are about half price on Ebay, over the auto part store price... I got one a few months ago, but haven't had to change the oil yet since then.

I think they are kinda neat...

I saw them in the half price bin at Pep Boys. I bought another one in case I loose the tube that goes to it. It was only like 6 bucks. I guess I will keep it on I was just making sure i wasnt leaving a lot of gunk in the oil pan. It does make changing oil super easy. Thanks Guys.

If this comment was for me, Fram filters = 2 blown engines.......that's why.
