I was suprised to hear that Helen was forced to resign over her recent comments about Isreal. Seems like old people can't just say what they want anymore; it too has to be polically correct.

She will be missed. Who else will grill the President and his spin doctors like a cheap steak?

In the third grade I remember seeing a black man swinging from a tree from the school bus on the way to school in Texas. I went to segregated schools as a kid. Just because my wife's maiden name was Chavez (even though they have been in New Mexico for 23 generations and every kid in her family had a degree) my father did not come to our wedding and never saw his grand kids. I know about discrimination and racist biggots first hand. I have zero tolerance.

And by the way, my grandmother was Jewish. That means that I qualify for guaranteed Israel citizenship.

Was my response harsh, I haven't even warmed up. Why is it that the folks who preach tolerance seem to always have the least tolerance.

There was nothing remotely racist or even anti-semitic in that interview. Her viewpoint on the issue came about 62 years too late, so it was a bit stupid to state it.

The UN created Israel in 1948 and there has been trouble since day one. The Jews that populated Israel mainly came from Europe where they had been discriminated against, way before WWII even started. Those are the facts. The UN should never have created Israel.

So were her comments stupid? Sure, but Anti-Semitic? Only if you view them though a filter of intolerance.

She was an Arab and a Jew hater, that equals racist in my book. UPI and Hearst gave her a platform for her pro-Arab anti-Israel position for years. Good riddance to bad garbage in my book.

Of course, if she had said the same thing about illegals there wouldn't be any doubt she was a racist then, right?

A lot of the population of Israel did come from Europe. A bunch more already lived there. Another large chunk came from all over the middle east: Jews kicked out of their homes by the Muslim controlled governments. Most Israeli Jews look exactly like Israeli Arabs, Palestinians, and everyone else in the middle east.

If you want to start harping on borders, the whole middle east was split up arbitrarily by colonialism(not by the UN).
