Heading to Michigan

Well, I'm off to the UP for 4 days of camping, mountain biking, and wheeling with my 16 year old son. His first time wheeling and I'll let him get some off road drive time in to make sure he catches the bug.

Got back last night. I hooked up with Mich88XJ up in Houghton. He wheels with the Michigan Tech club up there and took me on some of their trails (Thanks for everything, Christian). Awesome time. I had my 16 year old son, Jake, drive the whole day and half way through the day he turned to me and said with a grin, "So when do we put the lift on my Volvo?" Yea, he's hooked. One of the coolest things was the last trail depositing us on a secluded beach on Lake Superior, driving into the lake to clean off, and then headin back in the dark. Night wheeling is very cool.
Jake definately drove it like he stole it, ripping off a front flare and front inner fender along with a LOT of scratching. Between this weekend and last week's Badlands carnagefest the XJ has taken quite a bit of abuse. SeanR, I think I have you beat on the deep mud picture.
Wish I knew ANYTHING about picture hosting so I could post some.

There are some great trails near tech. I live about an hour away (Ishpeming). If you want the real deep mud though you should head to the sault.

Here brad, sorry I didn't see this post earlier, I would have gotten these up. Anyhow, here are some of the pics that Dale took, I left out the ones of my jeep, they are too embarrassing. Anyhow, there is supposed to be a way for you to upload pics to this album too, not sure if it is hard or not, but you can throw yours on there too. By the way, the hole he got stuck in is even deeper on the right. The ford didn't make it becuase the water got in the ignition and killed it and he had starter problems too, ended up pull starting him down the snowmobile trail. Just for future reference Fryphax, I am MTU_Jeeper on the other forums that we both reside.

before i moved to montana i lived in mio michigan. i never saw to many trails that you were "allowed" to go on. the UP has better laws tho
