header on ebay

so i seen a good deal on ebay for a header for my xj but the years they offer start at 91 and newer now my motor is a 94 but all the fuel injection is renix, the intake and stock manifold is 1990, also renix, has anyone found a diffrence between the years as far as i know this will work :dunno:

The 91+ header will not have a hole for the EGR tube to go into. The ports on a 87-90 header will certainly match the ports on a 7120 head much better than a 90 intake does. It has been said that the ports on a 91-95 header match the exhaust ports on all 4.0 heads, EGR is the difference.

I think its about getting around a motor mount...

Last time I checked the motormounts never changed. Ive never heard about mounts being an issue it's about matching the ports and the EGR like slip mentioned

The exhaust ports never moved or never moved a noticeable amount anyway. I've held 91+ gaskets up to Renix heads and they still match up fine. It was the intake ports that moved up 1/4-1/2". There is no way there is motor mount clearance problems, the mounts never changed. You will run into two problems though if you want to put a later header on your Renix system.

-You will need a new downpipe because the header doesn't have provisions for an 02 sensor.
-If you live in a state with emissions testing you will need to have a hole drilled and bung welded into the header for your EGR tube.
