huh? I dont believe that for one second, no offense. where did you hear this. I have heard nothing of that scenario. Did you hear this verbally or read it in a respected trade journal, the news, one fo the car rags etc.

It was verbal, from a dude that worked at Cummins. <shrug> I'm not going to fight over it. Still makes sense to me.

Besides, what makes anybody think that the General gives a damn about iconic badging? Grand Am, Grand Prix, Century, Le Sabre ... they're gone or on the way out. Oldsmobile? pfft. Then look at what they did to the cool ones: Monte Carlo, Impala, GTO. Good grief, those either became junk or looked like used bath soap (Taurus) or both.

They wouldn't have called it a Chevy Ram, either. They could have just built the better truck and put Silverado on it while leaving the GMC badges on the fruffy stuff. That's another iconic change: GMC used to be the "professional grade" truck.
