I love that this is one of the only hobbies where you can cut a bunch of shit off of your vehicle and it's considered progress.

Looking good Stefan dude, you're really moving along. Why not cut the rockers up higher? I know it's easiest to do them at that height, but why not gain the extra clearance?

I know its great right!

^ this. and I dont think its worth the extra effort to make them an inch or even 2" higher when the frame rails already hang so low.

and I feel like im going pretty slow. Im not working at all so putting 6 hrs a day in isnt a problem. sleep till 11 so its not freezing outside then go out and play with power tools for a bit.

on a different note I need to figure out where Im going to run my exhaust. there is not much room above my x member with the atlas and the new 3rd link.

cut it up the extra 2 inches, it isnt much more work and it is definitely an improvement. took me like a day to do mine. i boatsided it with some 1/2" hdpe, slides nicely.

ill look into it alittle more tomorrow. I still want to have doors. I know I could trim the flap part off the bottom of the door. but idk.

probably not going to do HDPE

i have my doors, and nobody even notices they're trimmed. i can get close up pics for you tomorrow if you want.

I did the same thing. Thought it was more work for less gain at the time.

I don't really hang up on them, just slide along.

But now I don't even have doors anymore so it wouldn't have mattered

since i run the same trails every week, i did notice an improvement. but our rocks are different out here so it may not apply to you as much. but it was hardly much more work to do and i figured the extra ground clearance was worth it. I hit them A LOT. i cut 2.5" off my doors, for reference.
here's some pics, let me know if you want any specific ones.

what size tube is that vanimal?

that's 2x6 and it only sticks out that far? how?

ie - 2x6 rockers that' i've seen stick out MUCH farther.

mine are spaced out about a bit, but not much. i did not cut the seatbelt bolts that stick out, so at least that much (about 1/2-3/4").
the bottom of my doors are plated with 1/8" steel so i didnt really care if they stuck out much more.
my pics are decieving, they actually stick out over an inch past the doors.

o really? well ****! I was worrying about having to cut down 2x6 to 2x5ish when I did mine to tuck them that close.

Is there anything along the sides of the frame rails you needed to clearance the tube for? ie nuts, bends, etc.?

ahhhh ok sweet!

i did not clearance the tube or anything, i just cut out the rockers, cut 2.5" off the doors, and cut 3 wedges out of the floor pan to make room for the 2x2 braces that angle down to the frame stiffeners. then welded the sucker in. 2 and 4 door heeps may be different but i doubt it. i have a 4 door.
