H4 HID conversion kit

OK, bear with me folks I'm a-learning. How's this for a review?
HID systems:
Bi-xenon refers to hi/low capability within the projector, with some mechanical contrivance altering the observed beam - but the bulb does nothing different.
You can also go single-xenon with a simpler projector and no "hi/low" differentiation.
HID systems require a projector housing (which can be made after-market out of more traditional housings) optimized for the bulb type and light output. From the power relay you wire to some sort of ballast (don't go cheap as the junkier units can cause a fire) then to igniter and bulb. HID a total re-wire of your headlights. If you screw it up you can create a lot of glare, fires, blind people, make jesus cry etc.

Reg H4 conversions can use halogen or xenon bulbs but neither is likely to be as bright as HID xenons, or as sexy. Hella, Delta and Ebay all carry 6054 ---> H4 housings and there are drop-in wiring harnesses available to further enhance light output.
Is this all correct or am I spacing out and missing things?
pretty much lolz

My question about the E-Codes and Autopals were not in regard to a retro-fit. I was wondering if you would get a good sharp cutoff with h4's in ecodes minus the projector retrofitted.
buy an oem d2s or d2r HID kit. buy an H4 adapter shield (I'm sure I mentioned those shields a few times before lol).

Also, does anyone make a 6054 headlight housing with a projector in it, and that fits one of the common "h" sized bulbs?
No.
Our headlights are too small for real projectors. You either: Retro Hella 90mm bi-xenon projectors. Buy what I'm using (they protrude out front). DIY retrofit/ cut into your header panel. You might be able to find a compact projector, but it's unlikely to be bi-xenon, common or affordable.

does anyone make a GOOD 6054 housing. I know cheap ones are on eBay.
Hella, Cibie, IPF, Autopal (they're on ebay and they're good)

So to retrofit a projector in a housing like this would be what you need to do? And in order to use those electrosport toyota h4 bulbs the housing above would need to be an h4 bulb?

ohhhhhhhh me likey. how much does this set up go for? i know most of it is fabbed. how much for the parts and what ever else? were did you get them?

Can you even find the xenarc kit anymore? I though that thing was discontinued a while ago?

The first Gen's have-been discontinued for a while (they had blind spot issues up front; Sylvania recommended you use them with their X1010 auxiliary HID lights (which you could install in place of your fogs). I remember autobarn clearing-out the X6054 for only $300. I was actually going to buy that kit, but they sold out so I went with the projector kit I'm using now.

The second gen X6054 kits were said to resolve some of the issues with the first gen kit, and they're still floating around. Jen at suvlights.com sells them for 588/kit. You can email him and ask for a deal (just make sure they're 2nd gen). brightheadlights-hid.com also sells them. BTW. the 2nd gen kit is actually made by valeo (another top-notch brand).

Well, for one, you'd have to know how to mold abs plastic to get that look. We already discussed parts/prices to death here.

Here is the lens (or similar) to the one used in that Toyota a few pages back and the headlight in my other post.

Like Urban said, to use that housing you would need to be able to mold a projector in along with retrofitting the hid bulbs in.

I doubt you could just put an h4 based hid bulb into the housing and then mold a projector in and have it all fit fine, correct?

Correct, all the oem projectors are built around two bulb types D1S (separate igniter) and D2S (built-in igniter), so an H4 HID bulb won't work later down the road... if you decide to retro projectors (different focal point, different base, etc...)

Here's my best advice for anyone who wants HIDs now with a projector retro planned in the near-future: First, DO NOT BUY AN H4 HID KIT. Buy an oem D1S HID kit/ some autopals or something similar/ an H4 shield adapter. That way, you'll have a high quality oem hid kit in your Jeep while you can work on that projector retro in your spare time. The D1S bulbs will be interchangeable with the projector, so you won't lose any money when you have to ditch that H4 HID kit.

Actually, that one was just put together very well. It looks like there was a shroud molded around it, but it's really just some trim ring or parts of a lamp, something like that. Once you get everything to look right, paint it all black and it looks oem lol. You ave to get VREY creative when it comes to hiding the projector.

lol. ain't that the truth. For example... the bezels in my WJ Bi-xenon and old single beam retro weren't an automotive part/ projector bezel.... lol any guesses?

damn so much info my f-in head hurts all i know is the person that finally makes a hid projector thats in a 5x7 enclosure should have no probs selling them hell i dont care about the high beam issue the lows are so superior to stock id just use the hi beam wire to trigger aux lights

what kind of lights are the ones where the housing is a light blue ish color like headlights on the jeep in this link

Here
that's your standard 6054 sealed beam conversion with some blue coated halogens. Blue coated bulbs are junk. Not only do they rarely last 6 months, but they produce significantly less light output (remember they're tinted blue)... I often compare them to driving with your sunglasses at night.

where do you get them?
ebay, but if you like the look than I highly recommend you stick with Sylvania or Osram silverstars (they're available at most local autoparts shops)

You mean 6x8, or 200mm... and the biggest problem mass producing these things is size. It's hard to cram a projector into our headlights affordably. You have to make some sacrifices if you want projectors.

thanks for the info.

Is the any way that a list could be compiled of headlight upgrades that are safe and truly beneficial. they could be listed with links on where to purchase/how to construct and could be ordered by price. this way we could all have the option of some upgrade that we can afford.

I nominate ghost dakota and urban yan to compile this list

I nominate you to do a little more reading first...

Not to be a dick, but this entire thread, as well as countless others mention what can increase your light output efficiently. For example, e-code housings

upgraded wiring harness

higher wattage bulbs (with upgraded harness only)

complete projector retrofit

urbanyan's pre-made enclosures (around $500-800) , D2s with h4/casper shield adapter, OR simply throw in some silverstars...

That was after about 30 seconds of googling
