Just do me a fav and try to keep the glare to a minimum. This is my setup in my XJ:
100 watt low/170 watt high H4 bulbs. I got these from a buddy of mine who had no use for 'em
I have Hella E-code 200mm glass housings, no plastic crap. I also have a custom wiring harness that uses 12 gauge insulated wire, with 2 Bosch or Hella relays.

The output is MUCH brighter than it looks in the photos too btw. I run 5000 Kelvin HID's in 90mm projector housings on my Camaro. They are BRIGHT, but the halogens in my Jeep are brighter.

Thats the same kit I will eventually order, but my question is with the ballasts and bi xenon hi/lo's do you still need/should upgrade the harness?

Any headlight upgrade you should upgrade the wiring harness. Better safe than sorry, plus you get more power actually making it to the bulbs or HID capsules. Though HID setups typically only draw 35 watts, the startup voltage is fairly high.

It takes power directly from the battery/fusebox.

anybody have any issues with fliker on start up? sometimes they will light than go out and i cant cycle them off and on w/o one of them not coming back on they didnt come with a harness only run off the stock set up ive seen some stuff about adding a capacitor anybody know about that either? thanks

I've heard that alot of HID issues are due to bad ground or power connections. They're not like a halogen that will be dim; with a poor connection, xenon's won't work at all.

The only flicker issues I've seen personally were caused by bad HID capsules.

I got em in and I LOVE em! Took about two hours start to finish, the H4 bulbs fit like a glove and they're BRIGHT Absolutely NO regrets here. As long as they hold up they'll be dollar for dollar the best upgrade yet for my jeep.

i used an e-code housing and 5000k conversion.
they are by far the best lighting solution. they are bright, but not blinding. they are aimed correctly, a bit down then i would have my halogens, however they are still farrrrrrrrrrrr brighter then the halogens. its not even comparable. they are perfect.

Ipf, Rampage, Hella, ebay has some cheap e-codes. Q-tec has a few of em as well as ebay.

Mine's a Delta Tech H4 conversion. Has a really good cut-off.
Actually... now that I'm lookin for it I can't find it. Maybe they stopped makin the kit. But they're not hard to find. Pretty much any E-code headlight will be fine.
