gun review for concealed carry

My experience with firearms has taught me to find a weapon that fits my hands , shoots straight enough and is comfortable enough for me to wear .

As far as what weapon to use , thats up to you , how your hands fit the weapon . I don't think I've ever had a .380 that didn't shoot straight , so it doesn't really matter what brand you want .

My option was the Springfield XD .40 for open carry and my Taurus .41 mag
for CC . That .41 mag is a hand cannon and it feels good in my long hands .
Shoots straight at 50 meters and it fits just about anywhere I put it .

The other problem is , once you buy one , you'll form an opinion of your own .
Even if it takes buying a weapon for every day of the week ...:looney:

I'm working on my fourth pistol and my second AR ...:shhh:

add that house to the list of ones to never XXXX with :D

i would spend the little bit extra to move up to the glock/xd price range. cant speak for keltec, but dont buy a taurus auto, they are absolute crap, and anyone who tells you otherwise is just plain wrong. you can read about it on any gun forum all day long.

I've had two Taurus auto pistols. My newest has 350 rounds through it so far with 0 malfunctions. My only complaint is the sights which i'm going to change. Guess i'm just plain wrong.... blaise

Ruger LCP...basically a clone of the Kal-Tec, but I did a lot of research and it was "found" to be more reliable. I've put to 200 through it with out a problem.

If your willing to go with the .380 caliber, then the LCP is a GREAT platform for it. Great shooting little pistols for the size, and quite accurate as well. I'm really not partial to the .380 caliber, but am seriously thinking about an LCP as a running pistol. There are a couple companies that make some fairly hot little rounds for the .380 (buffalo bore being the first that comes to mind), and if you get them in a 100gr hardcast, you should get adequate penetration.

I carry on my person a Kel-Tec P3AT and i love it. I've got the belt clip on it if need be, and I've also got the pocket holster for if I'm wearing pockets the button shut.

I use to carry a Taurus 24/7 Pro Compact 9 mm and a Glock 22 .40 (WAY too big for daily carry, more of a Jeep/Truck gun) but i really love how small the Kel-Tec is and surprisingly how accurate it is up to 20-25 yards.

Ok, I'll throw my .02 cents in!

I have a Ruger SR9 full size, and am about to get the SR9C for personal carry. Yeah, I know it is a 9mm, not a .40, but it will work great for me.

I also keep a Colt Python 4" for the house.

...one shot, one kill.

Please give us an update on that SR9, i'm thinking about one myself.

I don't really want to turn this into a this caliber is better than that caliber war, but if I do my part, my 127gr +P+ Rangers will be every bit as effective as a .40, and I get 2 more rounds when comparing the same platform.

I love the SR9! I thought I wanted a .40, so I tried sought hand comfort as the starting point. The XD, XDM and were the nicest in my hand. The XD was more comfortable than the XDM, but I was all over the target with both. So I tried the XD & XDM 9mm, and better grouping, but still shaky. So I tried the S&W M&P, H&K P2000 and P30 which all shot great, but then sticker shock set in. Had heard about the new Ruger striker fire SR9 and tried it. Double Action only, which to me means "I pull trigger, it go bang", no messing with actions, single action first pull, no BS. 17rnd mag, easy to strip and clean, feels great in my hand, lightweight and good price. I am not worried about the trigger recall, since Ruger did the OEM fix and no reports of issues since. The double trigger safety is no issue for me, and I really like the chamber loaded ramp indicator on the top of the slide - good tool for teaching with. I did not go with the Bi-tone, all black just made more sense for me, even though it is $50 more expensive. My first time shooting, I tried Federal, Winchester White Box - both 115gr FMJ and Winchester NATO 124gr FMJ. After 300 rnds, 100 each, all three were chewed and spit with no problems. Definitely could feel the difference with the 124gr NATO, but that is to be expected. I regularly shoot Federal 115gr FMJ and have ~3000rnds total with no issues. Although I have my Texas CHL, I don't carry the SR9, it is a full size 9mm and too cumbersome, like all full frame 9mm or .40. Which is why I am considering the SR9C....lighter trigger pull, small frame, and just as easy to enjoy. i definitely would try it out, see if it works for you and make your decision from there. No matter what flavor, size, or color, it still has to feel good in your hand...thats what she said too!!

Thanks a lot for your review on the Ruger Fort Worth, I'm really looking at that SR9c as a next buy. My daily carry is a Glock 19 and I don't know that anything in a comparable size will replace that, but for a lighter more concealable pistol, that SR9c looks promising.

I like my Glock22, it works for both open and cc for me. The best cc piece in my opinion is a good blade, it will never malfunction in the right hands ;)

......... Sure, as long as the bad guy didn't bring a gun to a knife fight....... :twak:

BTW, how's your "injury" since you posted this a while back?

:D

Nice...... can't view youtube here at work!?!?!? I will have to wait and see what this chit is??

Yeah, like I am worried about a dipshit with a gun! Most cannot hit a moving target and if they get close enough I will just take their gun away and beat them with it! :spin1: Maybe I will use my knife and take a souvenir :firedevil
