Guage cluster/ jolt

ok so i bought a 99xj with 86k on it, it runs strong but sometimes the guages cut out, sometimes alltogether and sometimes jsut one or two, when this happens the airbag light comes on they cut back in sometimes, anyone know where this might be happening along the wires for the cluster and how can i fix it. second whenever i shift from drive-reverse or reverise-drive the car jolts and makes a distnctive clunking noise, like the rearend or some part is loose. so any ideas on that would also be appreicated, thanks

You need to remove the gauge cluster, clean the two self docking connectors and put it back together OR take it to a dealer and have them put the new plugs in. Do a search on gauge cluster, you will get detailed instructions on at least 10 that I did.
