Well, Ive been here mostly lurking for better that a month now, so I figured Id make a formal introduction. My name is Billy and I live in Colorado springs (for a little while longer). I just bought my first Cherokee about two months ago and so far I love it. I had a grand before but I wrecked it :(. My "new" ride is an 89 4.0 with a 5spd. I bought it with 3" rusty's lift new 31s, new pro comp shocks new clutch, slave, and master. She's got 130000 and in pretty good shape :).

I have to tell you though, Im pretty ignoprant to all the XJ terminology. I dont know about things like disco front ends and renix. Ill need alot of guidance, and patience, But I think Ill be a Jeeper for life.

I look forward to seein you in the forums and on the trail!!!

Welcome! You'll learn a lot on this site! When I started I knew nothing. There will be guys in here to answer any question you have so ask away!!!

Lets wheel it sometime since youre in the springs. I live in Monument.

You will, cause you most likely have both on your Jeep.

So, disco front end means that your axle came stock with a vacuum actuated fork that controls a collar that when engaged locks the two halves of the passenger side axle shaft together. The good thing means that all the entire drive train on the front end isn't turning all the time. The bad thing is that it's not the most reliable system as the various hoses and such tend to develop leaks over time. And that can mean you have no 4wd when you pull the lever.

And Renix is the French built, Renault sourced fuel injection system on your engine. Conventional thinking says they are easier to tweak to get more performance out of and they seem to have been pretty reliable over the years.

Find the search drop down up at the top, towards the right, near your name. It'll give you lots of information. Not to mention reduce the flameage that some folks turn loose the 700th time the same question has been asked.

And most important of all.
