Good rattle can primer?

Ok so, it's time to start doing some body work on the MJ. My issue is that it'll be done over time, all by me, little by little. I need to know if there is a decent primer out there in a rattle can that I can use for the time being, that won't have to be completely removed later down the road when I want to lay a nice paint job. I'm looking for something that will re-act well with an automotive paint.

Look for anything that's 2k in a rattle can. Something where you have to break a plug, and then shake the can to mix the contents.

You might pay about $20 a can, and the can is one time use, but it's the same stuff you would shoot out of a gun.

If you put anything laquer based down, and cover it later with urethane, it's guareneteed to lift. Just how it goes.

Just remember that primer will not hold a surface and prevent rust. So if you sand down to metal and prime, it will rust if you don't paint in short order. Primer is by its nature porus so the paint will adhere. That means that water can penetrate. That is why you see so many rusted cars running around that have primer on them.

Dan this is mainly going to be for you, I'm having a tough time finding 2k. What about SEM's primers? I know SEM makes good stuff, just not sure about for automotive paint.

i know i'm not Dan, but i thought i would throw in my .02....

first off, Old Man is exactly right, primer will not do anything.
secondly, i have had great results with the self etching primer... after applying the self etching the paint doesnt chip or flake like with regular paint/primer when you hit it with something. also it has held up great against ohio and michigan winters as far as corrosion resistance goes.
