Good deal on XJ D44?

I would make sure it wasn't the D44 A. Those were the aluminum housing and they had failure problems because of heat issues. I know a few people who have gone through this. There is a stamp on the right side of the differential that will say if it is a D44a or not.

Very bad deal. I can get them for $85 when they are in stock.

Open with 3.54's. What would a good deal be. I want to run 4.56's for my 33's and maybe 35's with AW4. Anybody know where to pick one up in the NW.

I hope you know at that price you can add another $250 to it because to run the gear you want, your gonna hafta change the carrier, buy new gears (of coarse), and buy a master kit. RAWBROWN has the best deals around.

If it came with anything smaller than 3.94s you will have to get a new carrier to run the ratios that you are looking at installing.

just to clarify because it can be confusing.

case breaks for the D44 are 3.73 and numerically down
and 3.92 and numerically up.
if you get a D44 with 3.55's which is very common then you will need either a new case or in the case of some ratio's you can get thick gears which can save a few $$$.

Tell me about it, it also needs a drum. If you need one I found a complete one in Portland for 450 with exchange, I kinda laughed and hung up.

yeah , your should have called burnside auto wrecking. I saw that earlier since I have access to other wreckers from where I work. I thought $450.00 was too much...

thats what burnside quoted me and they wanted my 30,000mi 8.25 out of my 99. If you hear of any good deals around the NW let me know would ya.
