what makes those "cherokee" buggys?

the gunmetal one was still running a d30/ d35

they were all cherokees originally. they still have the unibody underneath. (the red one is a custom built one thou). most of them still had the originally dash/steering column as well.
they look severely "ghetto"....and heavy

im thinking that the first guy that did that had the logic like this... goign to put in full roll cage whats the point of having anything but the floor, firewall and front end?... does that... beats the fenders so badly just takes them off... adds tubing... now all thats left is a hood... eh scrap it put little more tubing and some sheet metal on there and call it a day... results are cherokee boat sided and all metal replaced with tubing...but the floor...

i really like them. they cut off so much weight...why do u say they are heavy?
all that unnecessary tubing and trying to incorporate the unibody into the whole thing. just adds lots of weight... as well as the cut tractor tires on the one with stock axles.

my xj is heavy enough as it is... i couldnt imagine 150+feet of extra tube...

if i had to build a buggy.. the cherokee would not be my first baseline.

just my .02

agreed, fullsize frame... then everything else i want in a buggy... or just tub the whole thing out like jimmy smith frames heh

or just tub the whole thing out like jimmy smith frames heh
exactly... but even then most if not all his chassis have +250' of tubing! but they are meant to be beat like a red headed step child...

Melkor needs to get his hiny in gear and post some pics. Im feeling left out! No pics of either of the Team Willys Crew? I knew we were ugly, but dang! Lol.

He didn't leave right after he broke, he rode with me for a couple of hours after that. Im pretty sure he got some pics of us.

You're one to talk, Eric. I remember several videos that you shot, where are they???:spin1: I thought Fiona took some shots too?? Where is Shrek??:smoker:

Saturday started out with the biggest group effort of the weekend.....biscuits!

Then we split up into our groups for that mornings ride. Brians, Eric, Greg and I with passengers in tow headed out for trial #5. 100 yards into trail 5 claimed 2 u joints and one drive shaft. Brian made it on threw and I decieded to skip due to the 2 out a 3 breakage for the trail.

The look on Brian's face to the right edge of the pic sums it up for Eric.
