the stock TRE already has a hole in the threads for the cotter pin. or are you talking about the nut that comes with the kit?

Yeah, could just take a dremel and grind a small notch in the supplied nut.

For those of you that have flipped your tie rod using these inserts, can I see some pics of your steering setups?? I like the idea but I'd like to see what setups you all have had success with.

I originally flipped my Currie setup, but then went with WJ knuckles and flipped those as well.

I used the goferit flipserts in my set up after I did the WJ knuckle swap. Weld them all the way in! At first I just tacked them. The welds snapped and the tie rod was loose, giving me some serious death wobble.

I am using the Teraflex offset tie rod ends. They use the stock tie rod taper, but have a "one ton" size to the rest of them. I am also using 16" rims with 1.5" wheel spacers.
