It can be on the desktop... Mine is...Pfft... I see, it can't be on the Desktop, it has to be on a Drive.

I love my Mac.
Why are you still running SP1? Go get the updates! SP1 sucks, esp compared to SP3. Strange that you couldn't make it on the desktop, not sure why it wouldn't let you.Mine won't accept that as a file name for a folder on the Desktop. It brissles at the {} charactors. It worked when I made a folder on the "C" drive.
Vista SP1 32bit, running on a HP Presario as packaged.

If you need help on fixing let me know. Interesting it crashed for you. I am running w7 RC 64-bit and it worked just fine. I do only have a dual core proc though I doubt that should matter :dunno:w7 RC 64bit just crashed explorer and put cpu3 into 99% duty
YES! More ways to go "double or nothing" with my computer! I feel like before I start messing with windows files [again] I should just overclock again. I turned everything back to stock speeds but had it running cool/stable at 1.2GHz over factory settings for a year or 2. Maybe I should just do that again and pick up some more RAM while I'm at it. I am still only running 2 Gigs :laugh:Here are some others you can play with, oh, don't blame me.![]()

if you :rattle:
http://www.aviransplace.com/2010/01/07/windows-7-has-lots-of-godmodes/
God mode - IDDQD
All Weapons & Keys, Full Ammo - IDKFA
Walk Through Walls - IDSPISPOPD
the "GodMode" title was just for show and attention.
I have that same folder made with "Settings.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and it works (just makes the resulting shortcut/folder named Settings instead of GodMode)
NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS WITH WINDOWS 7 AND WINDOWS VISTA 32 BIT. DO NOT USE WITH VISTA 64-BIT.
If used with vista 64-bit, it will cause windows explorer to crash and you will need to boot in safe mode and force delete the file IIRC.
as for old school gaming, Wolfenstein 3D, FTW!

that sentence in particular was one reason I switched to Linux (X)ubuntu and haven't looked back.
God mode - IDDQD
All Weapons & Keys, Full Ammo - IDKFA
Walk Through Walls - IDSPISPOPD
I don't know why I still remember those. But, I had even more fun with the Quake Console mode (I used to play with SV_GRAVITY and SV_FRICTION all the time. Make Q-matches much more interesting...)

Switched 3 years ago. My laptop and coffee table run Ubuntu, and I have a Mythbuntu media server running near the TV. I have never paid for an application and they all work without crashing.
Method 2: (Thanks to my friend Marc F.)
Create a shortcut with following path and set desired icon:
explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

how do you like that mythbuntu? my old laptop died, then came back to life after I bought a new one.
it was a highend laptop in its day (4 years ago) but is still pretty good grafix wise, I was thinking of turning it into a media computer.
Look at something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817995001 . 5 SATA drives in a 3 bay space, hot swappable, with temp alerts. Works very nice if you've got hot spare capability with RAID.
