God mode

Mine won't accept that as a file name for a folder on the Desktop. It brissles at the {} charactors. It worked when I made a folder on the "C" drive.

Vista SP1 32bit, running on a HP Presario as packaged.

Why are you still running SP1? Go get the updates! SP1 sucks, esp compared to SP3. Strange that you couldn't make it on the desktop, not sure why it wouldn't let you.

w7 RC 64bit just crashed explorer and put cpu3 into 99% duty
If you need help on fixing let me know. Interesting it crashed for you. I am running w7 RC 64-bit and it worked just fine. I do only have a dual core proc though I doubt that should matter :dunno:

Here are some others you can play with, oh, don't blame me. :D :D :D :D if you :rattle:

YES! More ways to go "double or nothing" with my computer! I feel like before I start messing with windows files [again] I should just overclock again. I turned everything back to stock speeds but had it running cool/stable at 1.2GHz over factory settings for a year or 2. Maybe I should just do that again and pick up some more RAM while I'm at it. I am still only running 2 Gigs

God mode - IDDQD
All Weapons & Keys, Full Ammo - IDKFA
Walk Through Walls - IDSPISPOPD

Don't forget IDDT (map enhance). Use all of the above, go to map view, enhance the map to full detail, and proceed to walk in a straight line from the beginning to the end of each level.

Man, that game got boring fast. :D

the "GodMode" title was just for show and attention.

I have that same folder made with "Settings.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and it works (just makes the resulting shortcut/folder named Settings instead of GodMode)

NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS WITH WINDOWS 7 AND WINDOWS VISTA 32 BIT. DO NOT USE WITH VISTA 64-BIT.

If used with vista 64-bit
,
it will cause windows explorer to crash and you will need to boot in safe mode and force delete the file IIRC.

that sentence in particular was one reason I switched to Linux (X)ubuntu and haven't looked back.

as for old school gaming, Wolfenstein 3D, FTW!

Switched 3 years ago. My laptop and coffee table run Ubuntu, and I have a Mythbuntu media server running near the TV. I have never paid for an application and they all work without crashing.

I don't know why I still remember those. But, I had even more fun with the Quake Console mode (I used to play with SV_GRAVITY and SV_FRICTION all the time. Make Q-matches much more interesting...)

Did you try using those codes in "Heretic?"
The game responds with "trying to cheat?..." then you die.

how do you like that mythbuntu? my old laptop died, then came back to life after I bought a new one.
it was a highend laptop in its day (4 years ago) but is still pretty good grafix wise, I was thinking of turning it into a media computer.

Anything exciting for Vista x64 SP2?

Specs, just for the hell of it:
Hitachi 300Gb Sata2
HP Lightscribe DVD Burner
4GB Ram, Overvolted and running faster
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, Overclocked a little..
Foxconn M61PMV Motherboard
ATI Radeon HD4600+ 512mb (128 bit?)

Edit: Found this, it works for sp2 x64 (or did for me at least)
Method 2: (Thanks to my friend Marc F.)

Create a shortcut with following path and set desired icon:
explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Do not use Method 1 with x64!

Mythbuntu is great, I love mythTV as well. I need to get a tuner card so I can bring in my satellite channels. Right now I just use it for music and movies. Great program. I am using a PS3 remote with bluetooth as a control.

The desktop running it is an old desktop that was shit hot in 2003. Athlon 2600+, geforce 5200, 1gb mem. Still runs it fine. Movies look good, if you have a better system than that it should be just fine. I want an actual media server, the mini towers with 4 drive bays are getting cheap.

Look at something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817995001 . 5 SATA drives in a 3 bay space, hot swappable, with temp alerts. Works very nice if you've got hot spare capability with RAID.

Got a couple of new HP G servers with 2.5" drives in a rack, little thing will take 8 drives. Built a sans digital tower store with 2 seagate 2tb drives, simple switch decides jbod, 0 or 1. works on ubuntu, windows and the macs.

Are those SAS or SATA drives, Rich?
