Goatfest

Sorry to hear that John. Send me a PM with an address and I'll send you some Spiedie Sauce. I brought some out to give you at GF.

David Bricker / SYR - LAX

David, I gave it a good try.....(pm sent).

I almost made it. Got onto the lake bed about 2045 and stayed to the left as much as possible but the rental car just didnt have what it took (Chevy Spark). Road in was fine but the further out onto the lake bed I went the worse it got. Got out walked ahead, checked the mud and its depth, drove a little, walked some more but finally it got too sloppy and deep. Lost traction a few times and got a "little" stuck once but got out of it obviously.

The blue light was in sight. I thought about parking it and "packing in" but lots or risks with more rain coming in and no hard points on this one to tow with (unlike the Grand Vitara). Gave up around 2130 and drove out. Met another member in a white XJ comming in. Asked him to say hello to everyone for me.

At least the drive back was FAST. Took me 6 hours to get there from San Diego but only took 3 hours to get back.

Have fun. Wet rocks with greasy mud loaded treads, sounds like Virginia if not for the grey color (ours is red).

John

Well, Goat Fest did me right.

Short story: broke some things, got wet, muddy, drunk, had some chocolate thunder in the backdoor, pickle juice and apple pie, beards rule in jv, I need a bigger jeep.

Long: Best 18 hours ever.
My first time to jv. Arriving at night, in the rain, lost and only a flashing blue light to look for. Well, I found the blue light special crew and parked for the night. They were very accommodating and a nice relaxed crowd. Ate corn cob, baked potato and a tbone........ Not really, I joined in and got hammered at the hammers.

Rain, wind, mud, 36 degrees.... Best night ever.

Sat morning travisk attempted a rock trail , and was denied. The genright koh car was also denied on this trail. It was gnarley. I just watched. Then my left rear shock broke off while heading back to camp. Bar pin failed.

Peer pressure set in and I was first up another trail. Backdoor I think it was called. I suck at driving, so I ended up beating the piss out of my jeep. I made it 20 feet. Broke front ds, and pulled passenger side front shock through the upper mount. And absolutely jacked my nice new skid plates.

I had to leave at noon.

100 yards on the highway, I had to pull my front ds. Then death wobble set in, and my alignment was jacked. Lol. Fun ride home. I also experienced some major engine cutout at speed. Swapped my cps in lucern. That fixed it. Still throwing a lean code as we'll, and all of my gauges stopped working.

I can't wait for next trip. Thank you everyone.
