Years ago we were out near Salton Sea when a cop showed up to check on us late in the afternoon.
He ended up coming back about 11 pm after his shift was over and joined us in blowing the crap out of a 6' plastic Santa with his service revolver.... He was handing out cigars to all who wanted one as well.
He ended up staying for about an hour and a half.....
I had to laugh when one of us was racing his quad through the fire. He yelled at the guy to stop and proceeded to give him the business about not wearing a helmet. The guy put a helmet on and went back to riding his quad through the fire. The cop just shrugged and said "As long as he's wearing a helmet...."
