So to start off here's my current vehicle to poke around on our farm and hunting lease. I bought it bone stock and put a 2.5" lift under it with 32" mud claws.

A couple of weeks ago I was over behind my cousin's house because we had a glider crash in one of our hay fields. On the way back out I noticed a 4x4 4 door Cherokee sitting under a tree. I remember him having it some years back but had no idea he still had it. So this weekend over Thanksgiving I asked him what he planned on doing it...

He said he didn't know what was wrong with it but it wants to pull real hard to the left when driving down the street. He told me that if I could get it running that he would let me have it just so it wouldn't be in the yard anymore.

I go home, get a fresh battery, compressor and some starter fluid and go throw it in the jeep. Aired up the tires. With a quick spray of starter fluid and a turn of the keys it cranks right up. It hasn't been cranked in over 3 years.

He signed the title over to me and off I drove! It does have some cosmetic issues on the front end but hey, I cant complain! After all, it was FREE :scared:

hahaha I hear ya man I couldn't believe he just let me have it.

Its got a case Ive never had before. The shifter in the cab read "part time 4 hi, full time 4 hi, neutral, 4 low". Havent got underneath to see what it is. Anyone know off the top of their head?

Its got some issues in the front end too. It doesn't pull when its in 4x4 and the front end shutters n shakes and pulls to the left when on the road. Its different than death wobble. Gotta be something broke in the front end...

Probably a stuck brake caliper. And another vote for the 242 case. I like the 242 for a stock XJ, makes winter driving fun. Not my favorite for a lifted/wheeled rig though.

Sounds like 242 tcase.

XJtrailrider: That was one of the issues! We took it down the road to my grandpartents house and boy could you smell brakes burning. It actually completely locked the wheel down at one point.

We allowed it to cool while drinking a beer or 3 then tried it again and it had let loose. Got it back to the house and bought a caliper the next morning and threw it on but that still didn't fix the issue.

Bought a 30 yesterday after work with 4.10's and all RE steering, uppers n lowers and panhard. Not sure if Im gonna use it on the four door yet or put it in my Comanche...

Nice score. My current wheeler sat in a field for 2 years before I rescued it!
