Gettin inked...

Ive gotten tattoos for personal reasons to honor my beliefs, family history, cultural background, and what it is I do. I've also gotten tats from many different places because of my travels, all thanks to the military.

The fad that annoys me is people with money getting full sleaves done in single sessions. My sleave is an assortment of tats Ive gotten over the years and then shaded around to fill in the space.

Now now, you're being just as hypocritical.........

No one should stand in judgement over anyone's choice in tatooing - or even how/why they got their tats.

Some get that full sleeve in one session because of the overall artistic piece that it is....... or they bring in several ideas for tats that make up that entire sleeve - but they didn't/don't have the time to spread those tats out over time and simply choose to git-er-dun all at once.

Ink is ink. Get what you want, for your own reasons. Just don't cry about it later....... THAT'S what annoys people.

I've got my own designs/preferences for tats I'd love to have........ I'm just not able to get past the fact that because it's permanent - I gotta really trust the artist - and I'm just too picky/indecicive to just go with my gut, choose an artist and get it done........

When I was 18, I had the idea that I wanted to commorate my love of the Calvin & Hobbs cartoons and get Hobbs pouncing on Calvin on my arm..... Words can't express how happy I am that I couldn't muster up the courage to get THAT done.......

Now, later in life...... I find myself thinking that having a pic of my grandfather leaning up against the '46 Olds he gave me re-created on my arm would be a fitting and meaningful tribute tat - and possibly something that could be added to with a portrait of my pops when he inevitabily passes......

Another part of me thought just a couple simple arm bands - one of an off-road tire tread pattern combined with some Moab horizon landscape to represent my interest in 'wheeling, and the other arm, a flame pattern mixed with engine parts and wrenches to represent my hot rod interests........

But...... I'll most likely never take that leap........ but regardless of whatever I decide to do...... I won't be looking for anyone's input or approval except for my own......

Heh heh........ Maybe I'll just go pay a tatoo artist to draft up those tat ideas and then frame them on my wall...... I can simply say "Here's my tats...... whenever/if I decide to get 'em inked." :D

Troy's making that all up. he told me the other day over coffee, that he wants "MOM" tat'ed on his arm. with a big ole heart behind it. and something about a daisy on his bella. i lost interest in the conversation then and started ingnoring him

Sometimes the truth just stings!! Sorry if you find what I say negative but I just call it like it is..................... life IS both positive and negative! I have said many positive things here......... it is funny how you key in on the negative!! Is your glass half empty or half full????

I responded to your post because you personally attacked Beezle by saying his "hobby" of tats was a joke.

Exactly!! Hey xjboy you going to bash Dutch too?????

Here Dutch stated his opinion of disliking certain tattoos, but he didnt do it in a personal way that could end up offending someone. BIG difference between your statement and his.

multi piece sleeves are awesome. single piece sleeves are awesome.
lines on your chin are awesome. skulls crosses and a butterfly on your ass are awesome.

its all awesome, and its all really stupid. just depends on who you ask. some people wil hate your work, some will love it. but who cares? its your life decision to make for youself just as it is for other people.

just because any of you do have ink, doesnt mean you can talk down to or judge those who dont have any or those who have less.

telling someone that their tatts arent legit because they have a different story behind them is bullshit. its like saying "the HP adding, flex increasing, off-road sticker on MY window is way more legit than yours because i ran _____ trail and you didnt"

if everyone got tattoos for the same reason, wouldnt that DESTROY the significance of your story?

Troy, that off-road tread arm band would be pretty cool... although I bet if it became a trend everybody would be gettin Goodyear MTR tread.

Cause God forbid we offended someone

I should probably be a bit more specific. If 18 years in law enforcement has taught me anything, it's that there's getting tatoo'd and getting "marked".

Gang tatoos....... although quite artistic in form...... mean only one thing. They've sold their soul to the devil and will be getting a one-way ticket to hell as compensation. Getting a refund on that ticket - not impossible - but very "expensive"...... if it doesn't cost them their life.

I believe that judgement can be made confidently.

Yea, I'm glad somebody finally said something. Tattoos will get you no where in life, they are for low lifes and people that will never achieve anything. :)

Sorry, but I think I've accomplished a lot in my life and that my tats have never held me back. Besides, girls like them. :D

Personally I don't care why people get their tats, and I don't even knock the people that get flash art tats. I have some flash, and I always had it modified to keep it different. Like I told my friend who got a tat that I personally don't care for, "Its a good looking tat and appears to be very well done, I just wouldnt get it myself"

I did community service with a guy that was covered in Nazi and anti-semitic tats. he was also one of the nicest and coolest guys ive ever met. he no longer believed in what he did when he got the tats, basically a real life version of edward norton's character in american history-x

Wow, and this whole time I thought I was on a Jeep forum. I really do think the society needs to see tattoos as a form of art. It is really sad that people judge you because of the things you do to YOUR body, but that is also the risk that one takes.

All I gotta say is that if anybody wants to talk chit to Ben, I got his back! LOL

yeah its a fantastic movie. they cut that ending because it would have destroyed the movie. the way it ended was so powerfull that having him go back to the "old him" would have ruined it.

Want to start Talking about Abortion now too?

People are sharing their Opinions...

Either way, if you do it, Video tape it, it'd be funny to see you cry! (i have no Idea I don't have any Tats)

Or just take a picture of us and show us ;)

My comment was just sarcasm for the people that I've met on here.

Same here.

I always wanted to get a rooster tattooed on my calf so I could tell people I have a coc_ below my knee.
Instead I did the cardinal sin and got my wife's name tattooed on my arm.

Heres the other arm with my tribute to the Hot Rodder gearhead in me.

Well, the deed is done. I didn't take or do anything beforehand, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected... kinda felt like I had a bad sunburn and someone was poking at it with a pencil or somethin. We expected it to take an hour but it ended up being two. Its not my original design (it had too much detail) but its pretty close, and I'm really happy with how it came out. Cost me half as much as I expected too.
Picked up some bacitracin and aloe on the way home, mixed em about 50/50 and seran wrapped it.
I have a couple pics but there's a glare and they're not very good, I'll take and upload some in the morning when there's better light.
