Geocaching trip...Genoa Peak Road

I am planning on going geocaching next Thursday July 12th, along the Genoa Peak Road, Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. The cache on the peak is my goal to leave off a Red Jeep Commander TB...however there are several located along this road.

Anyone interested in going is welcome to come along. I am planning on running it in the stock white XJ.

I went up to Genoa Peak a few years ago. Great road for a stock Jeep to run, and the view of Lake Tahoe is incredible. Have fun!

what time are you hitting the trail

Probably about 11am. I am driving up in the morning from SF, so depending on the traffic I figure to land in SouthShore around 10:30. If you can make it lets meet at McDonald on 50 near the Wye.

Mission accomplished and the Red Jeep Commander TB is sitting on Genoa Peak waiting for the next visitior. Bryan you were right, my stock XJ did fine even on the "challenging" part.

One cache took me to the site of a passenger plane crash site.

That looks like a pretty nice trail. I will definitely go check it out with my stock '94. Any spots needing 4wd?

Once you leave the pavement I would say you should be in 4WD. It starts out very sandy the becomes rocky on some parts of trail.
