If this needs to be in ModTech, Mods please move it, and I do apologize.

I'm currently going through some engine issues with my 89XJ, and a few things occurred to me. One of the ideas I has was to go ahead and drop the green on getting this truck show-ready.

When I got it last year, it had been a "sitting in the woods for too long" truck. There was leaves and dirt (and a bees nest) hidden in the cracks, around the liftgate, under the fenders, etc. I cleaned it up, fixed the axles and brakes, scuffed it, and had my local Earl Schieb throw two coats of solar yellow on it. Of course, I paid ES to prime it, paint two coats, and spray a separate clearcoat. They used one-stage paint, with no primer, and no one wants to right this wrong. Paint started falling off, which I covered up with olympic blue stripes.

Now, I like the stripes! I want to have this truck re-shot again this summer, with the stripes included, but have no connections on a decent paint shop. Should I have The Schieb do it over again, but prime it myself this time around?

Also, can the front fenders, grille, and hood from a 3rd Gen (97-01) be swapped onto a 2nd Gen (83-96) XJ? It would look awesome with that combo, especially in solar yellow. How much work would need to be done to do this?

The front clip swap is possible...I got all the parts from junkyards/on here for under $100. I'm waiting til the spring to do the swap so its warmer for painting stuff. You'll need the header panel, grille, headlight buckets, fenders, and marker lights. Hood should be the same. You might want to get the wiring harness from a donor too since you'll have to change the wiring a bit.
