Gasoline thefts

Already hearing about thefts on the news and in papers. Was going out yesterday to pick up 4 gas cap locks when I started thinking about the gas thing I went thru in the 73. Decided against it as I remember that if they could not get the cap off they would just punch a hole in the tank. With the gas tank skid I have on the XJ the gas tank is completely covered but the skids on the TJ's expose the sides and those are the two I'm more concerned about as they are parked all day at school and work. Already changed our parking arrangements here at the house, park all 4 lined up in front of the house nose to tail with the filler caps facing the house and leaving the floods on at nite. Think I might go pickup a motion detector and hook that up.

Gas stations here are making you pay before you pump the gas. Clerk told me yesterday they already had a ton of drive off's. Wouldn't expect anything less .

I was at work last night and there was a car chase going past with about five cops behind. Come to find out it was a gas and go and he got caught. So, for a few buck in gas he now has to sit a few years. Some people will never learn will they.:lecture: Not to many gas theives around here yet but it will probably get worse. We leave our outside light on at night now for the car and our jeep is still in the garage so they can't get to that.

Forgot to close my garage door one night, a few weeks back. Nothing appeared to be missing.....til I proceeded to mow the lawn the next day and my 5Gal gas can was gone, prolly had 4 gals in it. *#!%^ also took my brand new Rigid sander. Considering what they could have taken, I'm feeling pretty fortunate that they were punks and not pro's.

Havent had much of a problem out here yet just a few drive offs. The place that I fillup told me they havent had a delivery for apporx 1 1/2 weeks and didnt know when they would be getting any. Right now it is sitting around 2.99 for low grade 3.09 for med. and 3.19 for high. whats it doing in your area.

well just a thought as I will do tomarrow , but drill a hole under the lid and install a pin switch and run to your horn or alarm if you have one you can get a pos or neg switch depending on how what you hook it too....personally mine will be hot to the horn on both jeeps and on my GEO

put a "Diesel Only" sticker inside the gas tank door (or "unleaded only" for a diesel vehicle), so if they steal your gas (thinking it's diesel) they will pay
