FYI on Front Driveshafts (for 5 speed)

Yeah, it can be done with relative ease actually. I don't think I've ever destroyed the needle bearings...certainly I've dropped them on the floor and lost them, but never actually broke 'em.

How are you trying to take it out?

well im not breaking them, they have just fell on the floor as you said. I assume they are screwed onece they fall out? I am using a vice with a socket on one end and then a piece of wood with a hole cut out to press it thru. I have a full wood shop so when the needle bearings fall on the ground they are covered in saw dust and what not, I just assumed they were garbage after that.
 
you can clean them off and get all the grease off and repack it... they're not junk just cuz they fell. it just makes life harder. but even still... i've seen it done without dropping any. believe it or not, i myself have never once done a u-joint, so i cannot say anything.
