Kyle, if you run my spare saw for a day cutting trails, it's all yours. I guarantee you it will provide more frustration than even an 80s Porsche can.

Isn't that the truth. My father inlaw came up with his saws to help me clear some downed trees. I spent more time fixing them then using them. He got so mad he left then came back with a new one.

This is a GREAT oppurtunity, but from what I understand there are still some issues. Not all of the 6500 acres are connected to each other and you may need to travel across / on paved local roads or across private property to get from one area to the next. All of these details have not been worked out yet. This place is only about 30 minutes from me so I want it open and open soon, but I am not holding my breath since it is local government running the show. Hopefully all will work out and we can have an awesome area like in Harlan, KY has!

IIRC Vette may already know these people?

I'll have to check out that link.

Yep...I was there over two years ago, and one of my good wheelin' friends (Eric @ EMS Offroad) is on the board for it. And conveniently, I just spent a bunch of days with him out at KOH. :D

For you racer types, stay tuned. There's likely to be a trial event later this year...easily 50+ miles in one lap...multiple lines, bypasses, etc...

That would be sick.

Ok, so I finally got a chance to check out this property with the Delaware Jeep Assoc (sorry folks, no pics) and I was impressed. This is a big place!!! 6000 acres, with potential for adding over 10,000 additional acres at a later date. As for where its located there is no address yet but if you find Shamokin, Pa. on a map, find Rt 125 going south out of Shamokin, the staging area is 4 miles south of Shamokin Pa. on the left. From the staging area, pretty much anything you can see is their property. I took the WJ up with the family, and we ran blues all day. We spent our day in the south eastern part of the property. I would call the trails probably lower-mid blue level trails. Challenging for the WJ, but my XJ would have walked everything easily. There are a few black trails, and many more marked out. Most Blacks/Reds are rocky hill climbs, similar to maybe Outer Limits or Cemetary at RC. I didn't get to see many blacks and reds, but from what I saw, I really liked. It doesn't sound like the park will be open until later next year, but they are doing these guided trail rides right now for clubs. The local DCNR has restricted them to only maintaining the existing trails and not cutting any new trails until the end of November. From Dec 1 until March (I think) they are allowed to cut new trails. There are no maps available yet, which is why they are only doing guided rides right now. They hope to have maps done by next spring.

Also, I did manage to break an axleshaft in the WJ too. We were on the last trail of the day, and it started pouring rain. The rocks got really slick, and I tried making a slick rocky uphill climb, and heard a very loud *SNAP*. I knew just what it was (but was hoping I broke the locker) and had someone pull me out of the spot I was in. When I got out to the staging area I jacked it up, and sure enough, the pass side rear wheel/tire just spun freely. I called AAA and we had a long cramped ride home. Time for WJ upgrades!!!

All in all, it was a fun day. I think there is plenty of potential here for the NAC to do a club ride here, and also plan a trail cutting too.
