If you are narrowing a rear I doubt you will have anything available that short, you can have the stocks cut and splined or custom. Moser will ship whatever size you want in two days......SANTA

This is what I got for mine, haven't gotten the shafts yet though.
The only extra is the rotors have to be redrilled to 5 on 5.5 and the shafts might have to have the wheel mount flange turned down a bit to fit in the rotor hat. I'm setting mine up so that both axle shafts are the same length.

Alloy-USA sold off the shelf axles that could set you up between 60" and 63" or so. They had 4 or 5 different lenth shafts, figure out how wide you want to be and order the pair that reaches it.
I gave Mike Finch a set of 35 spline chromo shafts for 60.5" dana 60 a few months ago, his rear 60 is sitting our garage at the moment nearly complete.

They neck down there shafts to save material I guess and neck up again where the inner seal should be but two different front ends I have had and the seal area was in the wrong place, Moser and others maintain the same diameter all the way to the spline so no issues with the seal area.....SANTA

I started taking the axle apart today. Damn, those drum brakes are heavy mofos!
Like many, I am having a hard time pulling the carrier. I tried the rag trick and only managed to push out one side (and that was only far enough to pull it away from the pinion.)
I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning when my crew shows up and we will go after it with two sets of hands.
But, now I need to confirm some things and get some direction.
Jes says he is building just about the same axle I am, right?
Where did you find your Grand Torino brackets? I'm not finding them at the
Currie site. Do you also have a build thread or can you direct me to a site that will help. I've read many threads on narrowing, but not on going to a semi-float.
Any positive input will be appreciated.

So, with a Torino end cap (bearing cap) and a 35 spline axle (Ford 9")
what bearing do I use?
Will a Torino bearing fit the 35 spline axle? Or is there some other modification needed.
BTW I found a set of disks I was going to install in my old rear 44
(Lincoln? :dunno
and was wondering if there would be a problem using all that stuff. It appears as though all I'd need to do is redrill the backing plate.
Oh, one other question. Should I leave redrilling the disks to a machine shop or is that something a competent garage guy can do?

Just use regular old Timken set 20 bearings.
I was going to just redrill the discs myself, I had done the drums on my old D44 in the past.
