I have a 6" Long Arm kit and noticed that they do not make a 6" kit any longer. Does anyone know why they stoped making the 6" Kit? How long does the spherical bearings last and when should I think about replacing them?
I have the FT 6" Kit on my jeep and was wondering when I should think about replacing the Hiem Joints and Spherical Bearings on it. I have put about 60 thousand miles on it. It is my daily driver and can be a little loud. Does anyone have experience with the Daystar Poly Flex Joints?
replace the heim's when the get sloppy. tighten the spherical bearings first, and see if the play is taken out, then rebuild them if not. Bushings Full traction now uses a torsional rubber bushing, which would be better than a polyurethane bushing in that application. Replace once they get worn.
As for how long they last? It all depends on too many factors to list. In a jeepspeed it could be as little as one race. On a daily driver it could be as along as the life of the jeep.
All I know is that they have a 3.5" long arm upgrade and I want them. Everyone runs radius arms and 3 links around here, so I'll try out the 4 link setup.

We still make the 6" long arm kit. The sperical joints lasts a very long time. We have been using them in our kits for 8 years. We are just not seeing some wair in them.

Daystar makes great joints, but the FK Chromoly heim is a stronger joint. We use them in several kits
We also have changed the upper front control arm joints. . It was a spanner joint before. We have changed it to the FK spherical heim joint much like the lower control arm joints.
I run the 6" kit here in the UK and the big heims on the lower arms wore out after a couple of years (~10k miles). The big difference is probably the amount of mud and wet sand that I drive in - it destroys any joint, driveshaft, pulleys etc. I'm used to greasing and servicing spherical joints before and after every trip to combat it. I swapped the worn heims on the lower arms for another brand of spherical joints that are serviceable.
Apart from that it's a great kit and gets a lot of nice comments about it over here.
