Well I already installed the turbo setup on my XJ also installed a Walbro 255lph high pressure fuel pump, Kenne Bell Boost A Pump and made an adjustable map sensor, 1 step colder plugs gapped at .25 now the truck is really rich on mid range throttle it starts to back fire what else can I do... I was thinking taking off the walbro and just play around with the other stuff but any other suggestions? My psc1 and ftc1 are not good for jeeps so I want to use the new AEM unit that controls fuel and spark but running low on cash at the moment..

What year is your rig? If you're running less than 1atm of boost, you'll need a 2-atm MAP sensor. For RENIX, they're standard GM parts for their cars of the vintage, so you can just get a MAP sensor from a boosted GM vehicle (the G/N turbo comes to mind,) or get one from Marren Fuel Injection (www.injector.com, IIRC) since I know they carry all of those sort of parts.

If you've got an HO rig, it may be a ChryCo sensor - I'm not sure. And, you may have trouble getting the computer to read boost levels, as it's not programmed for them.

If you're using an aftermarket controller, it's probably going to respond to signals from standard GM sensors - so back to Marren.

That will make digging up a 2-bar MAP a bit harder as well, methinks... Find a ChryCo product that uses a similar MAP to yours, but has a turbocharged engine version as well.

I would say SRT-4, but I highly doubt they used a MAP, more like a MAF system. Are there any turbo models, other than Cummings turbo diesels (mechanical up until 06 if I recall), that are of the 97-01 years and use a MAP system?

Just for 5-90's sake, OBD1 jeep chryco systems used a chevy-style MAP.

Thanks for that last. I wasn't sure - I'd figured ChryCo managed to screw that up as well (I've never been a fan of OBD-I, particularly theirs. Ford gave me fits and cost me hair with their old pre-OBD DuraSpark setup, and early GM HEI was worth a few fits, IMO.)

If he chooses to use the FTC1 or AEM F/IC controller he doesn't need a different map sensor. Both units will interupt the factory map signal once positive pressure is read by the sensor and start running in closed loop off the units own map sensor/maps. Upgrading the factory map won't do anything if running one of these systems.

I highly reccomend the AEM. Just make sure you get the 1913 model as it was developed specifically for OBDII chrysler/dodge apps. Also I reccomend selling the KB boost a pump, and adjustable map as they're not needed. Have you logged your fuel pressure? I would HIGHLY reccomend swapping in the factory pump and tuning the turbo system with larger injectors via the AEM. For all you know, the factory pump is more than enough to keep up with your fueling needs.

Have you invested in a wideband O2?
