A while back, I quietly changed the back-up time another hour or so later. I did not think anybody noticed. 
Seems some did.
Anyhow, I used to have a better mysql back-up system in place one upon a time. It was able to back-up the database in a fraction of the time. I will see if I can dig up that info and pass it along to Jeff for him to review, as he does the server end.
Myself, I have noticed off-and-on lag during the day... dunno if others have?
