The 4.6 sucks, the 5.4 sucks, it will just have two more cylinders of suck in it lol. They are doing this because dodge is selling the Hemi Charger Patrol cars like mad. At least around here. They have about 90hp on the crown vics if I am not mistaken.

this is the first i've heard of it, and I doubt its true.

ever seen a vic's engine bay? the 4.6L cramps it enough.

Yes I have, I have also seen a Crown vic with a Triton V10 stuffed in there. It was at the World ford Challenge a few years ago. I think it was stock V10 and it ran about 13.50s or so if I remember correctly. It didn't fit under the hood though, he had a small cowl to clear the intake.

I think the original poster is thinking about the Ford Interceptor Concept. I think they used a V-10 in the concept, but I don't think there is ANY plan to put one in a Crown Vic, or any other car for that matter.

the motor that goes into the interceptors is no joke. its also the same motor that went in the mecury marauder IIRC, and those fkers haul ass.

Depends on your definition of hauling ass. A 330 hp 4.6L V8 in a 4500lb luxo barge doesn't really haul ass IMO. I bet it would still get beat on by a Hemi Patrol car :). The Maruaders look damn cool, they have one unmarked here in Tulsa that hands out tickets like mad lol.

Summary:

Propane powered, V-10 reaching 60 mph from rest in just 6.6 seconds and dispatching the quarter-mile in 15.2 seconds at 92 mph. The numbers on our last 4.6-liter police Vic: 8.4 to 60 and 16.5 at 84 mph in the quarter.

Still no match for the Charger Hemi Police package...........

Then there's this slightly better version by a private owner:

They are too heavy to go fast now maybe if they put that V-10 in there and made it put 600HP at the rear wheels then it might get to sub 13's in the QM
