So like the he title says who has flown to Moab rented a jeep and wheeled. Kinda looking for opinions what you thought would you do it again kinda thing. I will make it there some day with my jeep. But the lack of a tow rig I would trust for a 20 Something hour drive it will not be for a year or 2 with my jeep.

I flew the wife in to Moab in 2013. I drove the truck and trailer out from Fort Wayne...it's more than 20 hours...

I've driven it three times and and with stops it's closer to 26-30 hrs.

You should start planning for the 2018 National event in October. You got 3 years. :)

Anyways, all flights to Moab go through Denver. There are two flights a day from Denver to Moab. They are small twin prop planes. They do the job. It's the crap run tho so if you are flying on the weekend, except at least one of those daily flights to be cancelled because the pilots get "sick" or whatever. They do have a back up plan of daily shuttles from Moab to Grand Junction and/or Denver. Just be-aware of possible travel delays.

We didn't rent a jeep, but there are a bunch of places to rent one. I know Gene (BigHank) has rented them before.

Anyway you can get to Moab you should. Going home, you'll be planning your next trip out there.

Dad and I have flown out twice, once to Denver and once to Grand Junction. Both times we rented an econobox, drove to Moab and wheeled a rental Jeep.

There are a lot of Jeep rental places in town, and they range from stock to locked F&R/swaybar discos/etc (at least they did a few years ago).

We are saving pennies to go to Moab in '18. I have been 3x now, but never with my own Jeep. My wife has never been and I'm not allowed to go back until she goes with me :D My in-laws stayed there for a week several years back and ended up buying property in Castle Valley. Moab has that kind of pull to make you never want to leave.

I was thinking fly out and wheel a rental jeep kinda get a feel for the place than possibly the next year take my jeep out there is kinda what I had in mind.
