Who Has The Best Price On A 40 Series My Stock Exhaust Is Ready For The Scrap Yard. Question # 2 Are Most Of You Keeping Your Cat Or Discarding It.

Best bet is usually summit. But you can't just discard your cat. You can go with a Hi-Flow cat, but your old cat must first be either non-working, damaged, or just plain missing. That is the law, now whether you stay to it. Your choice. But if you get caught, which hardly anyone does, its a big fine. Like 10k and 2 yrs prison!

I just put a 40 series on my '95. I bought it on e-bay for $37.99 new + $12 for shipping. I just hacked off the old muffler . I cut about 2" in front of the tailpipe hanger closedt to the muffler, and was lucky enough to have it slide off the cat. Slipped on the new muffler and had a problem. I had to have a local muffler shop bend a custom pipe about 9" long with two bends. Shaped like an "S". They only charged my $10 for the pipe and 4 clamps (not bad). Sounds great and was a total of $60 and 3 hours of time (including driving to the muffler shop).

MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY WHOLE EXHAUST IS SHOT, FROM THE MANIFOLD BACK. PLUS MY STOCK CAT IS VIBRATING ON MY CROSS MEMBER WHICH IS DRIVING ME BATTY .AS FOR RUNNING WITHOUT THE CAT , MY JEEP IS BASICALLY A TRAIL RIDE SO I AM UP THE AIR WHETHER TO PUT ANOTHER ONE ON OR RUN WITHOUT.

My opinion on it... is you NEED to run a cat. Thats half the reason those greenies are after us. So keep it legal for everyones sake. Go to a reputable muffler shop and just have it done. best way!

If your cat is vibrating on your crossmember then your rubber tranny mount is probably shot.
Keep the cat, replace everything else.

Yup...I'm with Scrappy on the muffler shop thing...I just had a new system installed...All welded, 2 1/2" 16 gauge tube, new hangers and a custom removable section to make tranny service a snap...I used a Dynomax with a hi-flow cat...sounds sweet without being too loud or raspy...
